A sag rod is a round steel rod, threaded at both ends, fitted vertically between the purlins of a steel building roof or horizontally between wall girts. Its job is simple: purlins and girts are weak about their minor axis, and before the sheeting goes on they sag under their own weight. Sag rods carry that load up to the ridge or frame, keep every purlin straight and in line, and make sheeting installation faster because the holes actually line up. Unifastener Industries LLC manufactures sag rods to cut length at our Umm Al Quwain plant. PEB contractors send us the erection drawings; we deliver bundled, tagged rods that match them.

Ordering from drawings
Send the purlin layout or the sag rod schedule from your PEB drawings. Rod length is measured between purlin web faces plus thread allowance, and getting that from the drawing avoids the classic site problem of rods 30 mm short across an entire roof. If no schedule exists, tell us purlin spacing, purlin depth and roof slope, and we will size them. Typical UAE practice runs one or two rows of sag rods per bay depending on span.
